Big says:
I can see right through
Every patch of nice, new skin
And where you’ve been
I’m not impressed
Unwieldy arms and a tiny head
I want the best, not what's best for you
Or the pigs that you call friends
That lumpen fuck with the dented skull?
He’s got nothing to show for every rupture, blow or break
Who’s got guts?
When i say guts, I mean the real stuff
Not fall in and fall back out as soon as things get grim
Who’s got guts?
Big backs
A different view of what's to come
And what that means for all of you
And that awful company you choose to keep
It gets worse week on week
The consonance is killing me
Brooding over computer screens
Waiting on some fatal event
Something that actually penetrates
My fully-furnished existence
But i'm still sitting here
Every day ends the same
It's hard to find the drive to mind

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer

Terrific, marauding post-punk that will thrill fans of Idles with its pairing of cutting riffs and wry spoken/sung lyrics. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 26, 2022
