Ali did good to get out,
To disassociate but never fully forget
Never enough to feel separated from the struggle
Ownership doesn't mean shit
She's back more educated than ever
she can buy her own drinks now and everything
The Front deserves more than she gives it
So Grant sniffs - they pass it around and she passes
He moves the conversation to nights back at Ruth's
Bodies convulsing and cum in the cracks of the sofa
Summer clearly lost its appeal, she doesn't buy into nostalgia
There's always something bringing us down
It's rotten on the inside and I for one am cutting it out
Before it spreads below the belt.
"If you write the way you talk"
There's some guilt in her silent judgments
Ali checked out some time ago and she won't look back
She passes for better than she had
All the while grants been assembling
Cause the people aren't bad it's just the systems that kept them

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer

Terrific, marauding post-punk that will thrill fans of Idles with its pairing of cutting riffs and wry spoken/sung lyrics. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 26, 2022
